I choose to research and create for Cheshire Coffee, a local coffee shop in Cheshire, Connecticut that prides themselves in artisanal, sophisticated coffees, teas, and specialty drinks. I wanted to focus on three things to emphasize through their digital media: how they wish to be viewed as a company, how the brand itself engages with their customers, and the lens through which they depict their product.
This process was extremely interesting to me, as I was illustrating such key aspects to a brand, but also aspects that one doesn’t usually consider unless you sit down and look for them. My main goal with this report was to capture the true essence of Cheshire Coffee without tarnishing or altering their company.
Cheshire Coffee Brand Strategy
Undergoing thorough research, I pinpointed the key aspects of Cheshire Coffee as a brand, such as their purpose and values, and then fleshed out the details of their design and typography. In my work, I also created a moodboard for the brand and various logo options for future media usage. Using Canva, I chose the primary font of Playfair Display, as it is so close to the font Cheshire Coffee currently uses, and went to work creating multiple variations that showcase various traits and values of the company. In doing this, I gave myself creative freedom to play around with various symbols and positions, stretching my perspective and expanding it into new territory. I also relied on my moodboard that I created towards the beginning of the brand strategy report to guide my personal vision and project phases.
